Traditional Dining Room — See Yours Transformed
A traditional dining room is a room that understands the importance of the meal. A solid wood table that seats eight, a china cabinet displaying the good dishes, and a chandelier that sets the mood for every dinner from Tuesday pasta to Thanksgiving create a space that takes dining seriously.

What Makes a Traditional Dining Room?
The dining table is a proper piece: a solid mahogany or cherry extension table with carved legs and a pad-protected top. Chairs are upholstered in a formal fabric — damask, velvet, or brocade — with carved wood frames in a matching finish. The table is always dressed: linen placemats, a simple floral centerpiece, silver candlesticks, and the china that is too good to leave in the cabinet.
The china cabinet or sideboard is the dining room's second act: a carved mahogany piece displaying transferware, crystal stemware, and a silver tea service. A gilt-framed mirror above the sideboard doubles the light from the crystal chandelier overhead. Walls are a warm, rich color — burgundy, hunter green, or deep navy — with white crown molding providing contrast. A Persian or needlepoint rug under the table defines the dining zone within the larger room.
